How to Check and Block Unauthorized SIMs Registered on Your CNIC

Sim Owner Details

ISLAMABAD: With SIM fraud cases on the rise, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reminded citizens to keep an eye on the mobile numbers issued against their CNICs. In many cases, scammers manage to get SIMs activated on someone else’s ID card, which can later be used for crimes or financial fraud.

Many users don’t even realize that extra SIMs are active under their names until it’s too late. To deal with this, PTA has provided simple ways for people to check and block such numbers.

Ways to Check SIMs on Your ID

1. Through the Web

  • Go to cnic.sims.pk
  • Enter your CNIC number
  • A list will appear showing how many SIMs are registered under your ID
cnic.sims.pk

2. Through SMS

  • Send your CNIC number (without spaces or dashes) to 668
  • Within seconds, you’ll get a reply with details of all registered SIMs

If You See a SIM You Don’t Own

If you find a number that doesn’t belong to you, the first step is to visit the nearest customer service center of your mobile company. Ask them to block the SIM immediately. It’s also a good idea to keep a written request or receipt as proof.

Simple Safety Habits

  • Buy SIMs only from official outlets or franchises.
  • When giving a CNIC copy, write “For SIM Verification Only” on it.
  • Make it a habit to check your SIM status once in a while.

Fraudsters are becoming smarter, but staying alert and making use of PTA’s tools can save you from unnecessary trouble.
