Sanam Saeed Drops Subtle ‘Auntypreneur’ Post After Parveen Akbar’s Tomboy Comment
KARACHI – Actor Sanam Saeed appears to have taken a dig at senior actress Parveen Akbar after the latter recently called her “a bit of a tomboy” on television.
The comment came during an interview where Parveen praised Sanam’s acting in dramas like Zindagi Gulzar Hai but went on to say she “looks more like a boy than a girl.” The clip made rounds on social media, sparking debates on gender stereotypes and how women in showbiz are often judged for their looks.
Not long after the video started trending, Sanam posted a short but pointed Instagram story. It showed an illustrated woman alongside the word “Auntypreneur” — a tongue-in-cheek blend of “aunty” and “entrepreneur.”
Underneath, the definition read: “An older woman who interferes in another woman’s personal life or career decisions.”
Although Sanam didn’t name Parveen, many fans connected the dots, calling it a classy comeback. Others defended Parveen, saying her remark seemed casual and not meant to offend.
The post has since fueled even more online chatter, with people weighing in on whether comments about appearance — even in a light tone — have any place in the entertainment industry today.
