T20I action begins today as Pakistan faces Ireland.
Dublin: The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Ireland is scheduled to kick off the women’s cricket team’s hectic international cricket season, which also includes two white-ball World Cups, on August 6, 2025, which is a Wednesday
The series will consist of the fifth bilateral T20I series between the two countries and will take place at Clontarf Cricket Club, with the second and third matches scheduled for August 8th and 10th, respectively. Each of the three matches will commence at 4 pm local time.
Both teams have won two bilateral T20I series each, dating back to their first meeting in a T20I match in Dublin in May 2009. Pakistan has a favorable record of 15 wins out of 19 T20I matches against Ireland.
The Pakistani squad arrived in Dublin on August 3 for a 17-day skills camp, followed by a five-day pre-tour camp at the Hanif Muhammad High Performance Centre in Karachi.
The squad’s only uncapped player is Eyman Fatima, a 20-year-old batter, while Sadaf Shamas was replaced by Shawaal Zulfiqar after injuring her left quadriceps muscle. Among other players, Sadia Iqbal, the world’s number one T20I bowler, will be seeking to enhance her standing with strong performances.
Ireland will be looking to build on their July form, where they triumphed in a three-match T20I series and a two-match ODI series against Zimbabwe Women, completing series sweeps in both formats.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana was quoted as saying, “Our morale is high before the beginning of a busy season, and this is an exciting period for us. Everyone is eager to put into action the sustained effort that was put in at the Karachi training camp, and we wish to do well in the T20I series.”
“We hope to continue the unbeaten streak since the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in April and would gladly add this to the list of objectives for the journey.”
