Gold Price Drops by Rs1,000 Per Tola in Pakistan as Global Market Weakens

KARACHI – The local gold market closed lower on Friday, tracking a decline in international bullion rates.

According to data from the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold slipped by Rs1,000 per tola, settling at Rs357,100. The rate for 10 grams also eased by Rs858, now standing at Rs306,155.

This marks the second consecutive drop in the week. Earlier, the yellow metal had shed Rs200 per tola, closing at Rs358,100.

Overall, prices have been on a downward trend since the start of the week. On August 8, gold was trading at Rs362,700 per tola, before sliding to Rs362,400 on August 9, Rs362,200 on August 7, and Rs359,300 on August 6.

In the international market, gold prices fell to $3,344 per ounce. Silver rates, however, held firm at Rs4,072 per tola in the domestic market.
